Fishing in the United Kingdom

United Kingdom (Hampshire/Wiltshire/Somerset/Yorkshire)

For those who wish to experience the delights of what can only be described as "Tradional Fly Fishing" then why not think about a tailor-made fishing holiday in England. You can choose between the delights of actually fishing a Chalk Stream in the tranquil surroundings of Southern England. Or equally try your hand at fishing on England's oldest and extremely famous stillwater, the enchanting Blagdon Lake which is situated just north of the Mendip Hill in the beautiful county of Somerset. For those Freestone river lovers among you why not spend a few days in the north of England in the famous county of Yorkshire fishing the renownd river Wharfe for truly wild brown trout and grayling.

Hampshire/Wiltshire (England, UK)

If you have never experienced the delights of actually fishing a Chalk Stream, then it is something you really must do. In the tranquil surroundings of the Hampshire and Wiltshire countryside in the South of England. Both counties are noted for their number of chalk streams within their boundaries. Sight fishing at its best.

Yorkshire (England, UK)

The Yorkshire Dales in North England is a most wonderful setting. With famous rivers like the Wharfe, Nidd, Ure and Swale to choose where you wet a line. This is the area where the "spider patterns" were fished and developed. Equally upstream dry fly and nymph fishing is superb sport.

Somerset (England, UK)

Knowing there are many fly fisherman who enjoy the experiece of fishing stillwater fisheries. With that in mind Osprey Sportfiske are pleased to offer those who are interested, a real opportunity. As Izaac Walton once wrote "all who take simple pleasures, in lovely places". Blagdon has it all. Nestling in a fold in the Mendip Hills is the Yeo Valley, unspoilt, green and intimate. Blagdon's history is that it was one of the very first stillwater fisheries in Europe. The very first fish recorded in the lakes register was on May 21st, 1904, and was a Brown Trout of 5lbs 8ozs. The fishery today retains the same charm and traquillity it had all those years ago. A real adventure for anyone interested in anything traditional in this modern day. Blagdon is noted for its free rising fish and the lake covers a large valley area, therefore both bank and boat fishing is available.

For the visiting overseas fisherman Orprey Sportfiske can offer a host of local accommations close to the venues, many situated in charming Public House's (English village pub). Something most visiting fishermen from foreign parts simply adore.
